Browser Plugins

These browser plugins will allow you to add torrents to your WebUI by simply clicking the torrent's download link or through the contextual right-click menu.

Remote Torrent Adder for Google Chrome

Remote Torrent Adder is an actively developed Chrome extension that allows you to add torrents with one click to ruTorrent, Deluge's WebUI, or Transmission's WebUI.

Installation

To install Remote Torrent Adder:

  1. Click "Add to Chrome" on the Web Store page
  2. Click "Install"

Configuration for ruTorrent

To configure Remote Torrent Adder for ruTorrent:

  1. Click the wrench menu, hover over "Tools" and click "Extensions". Alternatively, point a new tab to chrome://extensions/
  2. Click "Options" next to "Remote Torrent Adder"
  3. Set "Client:" to "ruTorrent WebUI"
  4. Change the host to your server's address: server.whatbox.ca
  5. Change the port to 443 for HTTPS and check the "SSL" box.
  6. Fill out your username user and password
  7. Change the "Relative path" to /webui
  8. If you wish, you can set a custom label or directory for the extension to use. Create the directory you list before using it.
  9. You're done! Make sure you have your ruTorrent WebUI open and logged in when you want to use the extension. If the plugin detects a torrent download link on a page, it will show the plugin icon in your address bar. You can also right-click links and use the context menu to add the torrents.

Configuration for Deluge

To configure Remote Torrent Adder for Deluge's WebUI:

  1. Click the wrench menu, hover over "Tools" and click "Extensions". Alternatively, point a new tab to chrome://extensions/
  2. Click "Options" next to "Remote Torrent Adder"
  3. Set "Client:" to "Deluge WebUI"
  4. Change the host to your server's address: server.whatbox.ca
  5. Enter the port your Deluge WebUI is running on
    (The port can be found on your Slot Info page)
  6. Fill out your username user and password
  7. You're done! Make sure you have your Deluge WebUI open and logged in when you want to use the extension. If the plugin detects a torrent download link on a page, it will show the plugin icon in your address bar.

Configuration for Transmission

To configure Remote Torrent Adder for Transmission's WebUI:

  1. Click the wrench menu, hover over "Tools" and click "Extensions". Alternatively, point a new tab to chrome://extensions/
  2. Click "Options" next to "Remote Torrent Adder"
  3. Set "Client:" to "Transmission WebUI"
  4. Change the host to your server's address: server.whatbox.ca
  5. Change the port to {{TRANSMISSIONPORT}} The port can be found on your Slot Info page when Transmission is enabled.
  6. Fill out your username user and password
  7. You're done! Make sure you have your Transmission WebUI open and logged in when you want to use the extension. If the plugin detects a torrent download link on a page, it will show the plugin icon in your address bar. You can also right-click links and use the context menu to add the torrents.

"ruTorrent WebUI" for Firefox

This ruTorrent WebUI addon for Firefox allows you to right-click torrent links and have them added to ruTorrent automatically.

Installation

To install the ruTorrent WebUI addon in Firefox:

  1. Browse to the plugin's page
  2. Click "Add to Firefox"
  3. Click "Install Now"
  4. Click "Restart Now" to use the addon.

Configuration for ruTorrent

To configure the ruTorrent WebUI addon:

  1. Click the "Firefox" menu and go to "Add-ons", or press Ctrl+Shift+A
  2. Click "Extensions" in the sidebar
  3. Click "Options" next to "ruTorrent add"
  4. Fill in your ruTorrent address as follows: https://server.whatbox.ca/webui
  5. Fill in your username user and password.
  6. You're done! Make sure you have ruTorrent open and logged in when you want to use the addon. The addon will now allow you to right-click on a torrent download link and add it to ruTorrent.

"Default directory for downloads" is an optional setting that you can fill in. If you use a custom directory, be sure to create it first. The default in ruTorrent is /home/user/files

Note

This add-on has issues with ruTorrent 3.5+ in that while it will add torrents to the client, it will display an error saying that the torrent was not added.

"Bit Torrent WebUI+" for Firefox

This Bit Torrent WebUI+ addon for Firefox allows you add torrents with one click to ruTorrent.

Installation

To install the BitTorrent WebUI+ addon in Firefox:

  1. Browse to the plugin's page
  2. Click "Add to Firefox"
  3. Click "Install Now"
  4. Click "Restart Now" to use the addon.

Configuration for ruTorrent

To configure the BitTorrent WebUI+ Addon in Firefox:

  1. Click the "Firefox" menu and go to "Add-ons", or press Ctrl+Shift+A
  2. Click "Extensions" in the sidebar
  3. Click "Options" next to "BitTorrent WebUI+"
  4. Fill in your server address as follows: https://server.whatbox.ca and enter '443' in the port field
  5. Enter /webui as the path
  6. Fill in your username user and password.
  7. Select your torrent client from the drop-down menu
  8. You're done! You can disable or enable the addon's 'torrent interception' (blocking the 'Save File' dialog and starting the download in your client) by clicking on the statusbar icon.

Greasemonkey userscript for Firefox

You must first install the Greasemonkey add-on to be able to use userscripts with Firefox.

  1. Install the userscript.
  2. Edit the userscript and add your slot's information.
